What’s the position?

As the Senior Analyst, Internal Controls, you will report to the Internal Controls Director and support the execution and continued development of the Internal Controls program. You will perform assigned recurring second-line reviews, including evaluating evidence, testing controls, documenting findings and conclusions, and following up on corrective actions. You will partner with stakeholders across Finance and the broader organization to identify control gaps, recommend practical improvements, and support process owners in addressing identified issues.

In this role, you will apply strong internal controls and risk judgment to evaluate processes and identify control gaps and inefficiencies. You will partner with process owners to recommend practical solutions, including opportunities to use data analytics, AI, and automation to reduce manual effort and strengthen controls.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and critical thinker who is comfortable working independently, solving problems, challenging existing processes, and taking ownership of assignments from start to finish.

Key responsibilities:

  • Internal Controls & Second-Line Reviews: Execute risk-based reviews of processes and controls, including walkthroughs, control testing, data analysis, documentation of results, identification of control gaps, and follow-up on identified issues.

  • Risk Identification & Remediation: Identify financial and operational risks within the processes reviewed and work with process owners to develop practical corrective actions. Track agreed actions and deadlines, follow up on progress, and assess whether completed actions address the identified control gaps. Escalate overdue actions or unresolved issues to the Internal Controls Director.

  • Process Improvement, AI & Automation: Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce manual or duplicative activities, and strengthen controls. Partner with process owners and Financial Systems to evaluate practical improvements, including the use of AI, automation, and data analytics, and support implementation as appropriate.

  • Policies, SOPs & Documentation: Support the development and maintenance of policies, SOPs, process narratives, flowcharts, and internal control documentation to ensure key processes, controls, and responsibilities are clearly and consistently documented.

  • Projects & Change Initiatives: Support Internal Controls projects, transformation initiatives, system implementations, and significant process changes, including evaluating the impact of changes on processes, risks, and controls.

  • Internal & External Audit Coordination: Support the Internal Controls Director in coordinating internal and external audit requests, gathering documentation, arranging walkthroughs with process owners, and tracking outstanding requests. Maintain organized supporting evidence and provide status updates on progress and items requiring attention.
